Ayushman Bharat crosses 9.84 crore hospital admissions worth Rs 1.4 lakh crore

The government reported that the Ayushman Bharat scheme has authorized hospital treatments worth more than Rs. 1.40 lakh crore for over 9.84 crore admissions. Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav told Parliament that 31,466 hospitals participate nationwide, with 14,194 being private facilities. The program provides Rs. 5 lakh annual health coverage per family for approximately 55 crore beneficiaries from economically vulnerable populations. Healthcare authorities have issued more than 41 crore Ayushman Cards across India by June 30.

Uttar Pradesh leads with 5.33 crore cards, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Bihar with substantial distributions. States can choose from Trust Mode, Insurance Mode, or Hybrid Mode for implementation and may switch between options. The National Health Authority requires hospitals to process claims within 15 days for same-state treatments and 30 days for cross-border services. This flagship healthcare initiative targets the bottom 40 percent of India's population through secondary and tertiary care hospitalization benefits.
