A politician claims he got assaulted and had a gun pulled on him at a Nairobi eatery. Embakasi East MP Babu Owino stated he was attacked Saturday afternoon at a Kilimani restaurant on Lenana Road, alleging a city MCA pushed him, drew a firearm, and struck his chest and jaw before later throwing water in his face. Owino said the confrontation started when he greeted a table where the MCA was seated, and the official accused him of orchestrating social media attacks against the MCA's wife, a claim the MP denied.
Owino reported the incident at Kilimani Police Station, calling it a serious threat to his life and part of a pattern of harassment since the death of a senior political figure he called Baba. He referenced a prior attack in Siaya. Kilimani police chief Patricia Yegon confirmed both parties filed reports and that investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting statements. The MP said he was at the location for a twenty-minute meeting with a clergyman after dismissing his security detail for the holidays, and he left the scene to avoid further escalation.
