Bahamas unity ignites fury over Davis' UN Escazú deal with Barnett

The Bahamas throws a massive party today as the island nation marks 52 years of independence from Britain. Leaders across the Caribbean heap praise on the tiny country for punching above its weight on the world stage. Prime Minister Philip Davis and his government picked the theme Together We Rise for the big celebration. Young Bahamians keep making headlines in science and sports while showing bigger countries how things get done. The Prime Minister's office bragged about how the nation stays small but never gets beaten down.

CARICOM boss Dr. Carla Barnett sent glowing congratulations to Davis and all Bahamian people for their hard work and creativity. She raved about the country's economic boom that keeps building confidence among investors and tourists. The Caribbean leader also cheered the Bahamas for leading the fight on environmental protection. Davis made history by signing major UN ocean agreements that protect marine life and boost sustainable tourism.

The island nation also gets props for helping keep peace in the troubled region. Bahamian leaders back the security mission trying to fix the mess in Haiti while supporting other Caribbean peace efforts. Dr. Barnett expects the Bahamas to keep pushing for stronger cooperation as Caribbean countries face changing global politics. Thousands of people hit the streets today for parades, concerts and flag ceremonies across the archipelago. Bahamian communities around the world join the independence festivities with their cultural pride on full display.
