Bangladesh keeps customs half-awake for Durga Puja

Bangladesh will maintain limited customs operations during the upcoming Durga Puja holidays on Oct. 1-2, the National Board of Revenue announced Tuesday. The decision aims to prevent trade disruptions while most government offices close for the religious festival. Customs authorities received orders to keep cross-border activities running with reduced staff during the two-day period.

Priority will go to urgent and perishable shipments at land ports and customs stations nationwide. A similar arrangement worked during this year's Eid holidays when partial operations continued. Trade analysts praised the move as essential for maintaining supply chains and economic stability. The directive went out to customs offices, government agencies, and trade organizations across the country.
