Battlefield 6 season 2 waits while season 1 drags on

Battlefield Studios just hit the delay button on the next season. They extended the current season for both Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC, pushing back Season 2. The move gives developers more time to polish the next update based on player feedback. An extension update will roll out to keep things fresh until the new season arrives.

This interim period introduces a whole extra progression layer called the Frostfire Bonus Path. It runs alongside the existing Season 1 Battle Pass tracks like Rogue Ops. Players can work on both at the same time without choosing one over the other. The Frostfire path has its own tier system with free and premium rewards.

Unlocking each Frostfire tier costs ten Bonus Path Points, with a total of one hundred ten points needed to finish everything. Free rewards include a hardware XP boost, a vehicle skin, and custom playercard options. Premium rewards, like a weapon package and career XP boost, require ownership of the current Battle Pass.

Points for the Frostfire path come only from weekly challenges. The studio confirmed there are no extra bonus challenges to speed things up. This design ties progression directly to the weekly reset schedule, limiting how fast players can complete the path.

The studio also plans timed events during the extension. These will feature daily login rewards with a romantic theme and several double XP weekends. These help players finish up their Season 1 progression before everything changes.

Additional game updates and fixes are part of the season extension. Battlefield Studios points players to the Game Updates section on its website for full patch notes and a detailed change list.
