Bawumia Blames Two Million NPP Ghost Voters for Defeat

NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says party members who stayed home cost them the 2024 elections. He talked to supporters during their Thank You tour at party headquarters in Accra yesterday. Many NPP voters simply did not show up at polling stations, he told the crowd. This absence hurt their chances badly against their opponents.

The former Vice President pointed out a major difference between recent elections. About 2.1 million fewer NPP supporters voted in 2024 compared to 2020 numbers. The path to winning sits inside the party itself, Bawumia explained. When NPP members choose to vote, they win elections. When they stay home, they lose contests. The party has started looking inward to fix problems.

NPP leaders want to rebuild strength before future election battles. They plan to address issues that kept voters away from the polls. Party officials need to understand why supporters felt unmotivated. They must reconnect with their base across Ghana. These efforts aim to prevent another disappointment at ballot boxes next time around.
