The Beitbridge Border Post has doubled its daily freight processing capacity, now handling up to 1,000 trucks daily following a major modernization of its facilities. Authorities attributed this increased efficiency to a redesigned layout that effectively separates commercial, bus, and light vehicle traffic, significantly reducing congestion.
Zim Borders General Manager Nqobile Ncube stated that the long-term objective is to establish a one-stop border post with South Africa, with designs for the initiative already prepared. A visiting African Peer Review Mechanism delegation endorsed the progress, describing Beitbridge as one of the most efficient border posts they had assessed.
The delegation is conducting a nationwide review, engaging with communities and institutions to ensure transparency and accountability in its economic governance assessment.
