Berekum Municipal leader Hajia Fatimatu Abubakar wants to clean up an old trash dump near Zongo homes. She told engineers to use earth movers from the District Road Improvement Program to clear away the garbage pile. The machines came from earlier government handouts to local assemblies across Ghana.
Abubakar talked with the news people about health worries from the dump site. She said the trash heap might cause disease outbreaks for people living close to it. The municipal team promises better sanitation throughout the area to keep everyone healthy. She asked residents to stop throwing trash at the old site. Abubakar also gave thanks to all workers for helping build the nation as Ghana celebrated May Day 2025.
