Botafogo Stuns PSG 1-0 in Club World Cup as Messi Shines for Inter Miami

European football giants Paris Saint-Germain suffered a shocking defeat against Brazilian side Botafogo during Thursday's Club World Cup action. The South American champions won 1-0 at the Rose Bowl through Igor Jesus's first-half strike. The 24-year-old forward collected Jefferson Savarino's pass and fired past keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma just before halftime. PSG had crushed Atletico Madrid 4-0 earlier but could not find their scoring touch against the determined Brazilian defense.

Botafogo claimed the Copa Libertadores title last November and proved their quality against the Champions League winners. Coach Luis Enrique admitted his team faced a very tough opponent who defended extremely well throughout the match. The result moved Botafogo to the top of Group B with six points from two games. PSG dropped to second place with three points after their first loss since beating Inter Milan 5-0 to win European glory.

Atletico Madrid bounced back from their PSG defeat with a 3-1 victory over Seattle Sounders. Pablo Barrios scored twice as the Spanish team moved closer to advancing from the group stage. Lionel Messi delivered another spectacular free kick to help Inter Miami beat Porto 2-1 in Group A action. The Argentine legend curled a perfect shot into the top corner after his team had fallen behind early.
