Build a Rocket Boy mass layoffs follow 2025 MindsEye flop

Build a Rocket Boy started cutting jobs after their latest video game became a disaster. The studio behind MindsEye began telling workers about possible layoffs during a meeting on Monday. Company leaders must give employees 45 days notice under British law when they plan to fire 100 people or more. The game studio employs around 300 workers in Scotland and another 200 people across different countries. Losing even 100 jobs would mean one out of every five workers gets fired.

MindsEye crashed and burned when it came out earlier this month. Players complained the game barely worked on expensive computers and gaming consoles. Many PlayStation 5 owners demanded their money back because the game ran terribly despite promises it would work smoothly. The company said they felt awful about how badly everything went wrong. Even after releasing fixes, experts found the game still performed horribly.

The failed launch puts the future of another project called Everywhere in serious danger. MindsEye was supposed to prove that Build a Rocket Boy could create successful games for their bigger platform idea. The studio wanted Everywhere to become a place where players could make their creations and play different games together. Nobody knows if the company will survive long enough to finish that ambitious project. The studio might become another gaming company that shuts down within the next year.
