Bulgaria kills security chief deadlock

Bulgaria shares appointment authority for security service chiefs between the government and president, but the government carries political responsibility. Parliamentary Speaker Natalia Kiselova announced changes to address current appointment delays while speaking on Wednesday in Pordim at a monument opening. Two bills will shift appointment power for the State Agency Intelligence and State Agency National Security chairmen. Kiselova stated the Constitution permits these modifications and global political instability makes leadership vacancies problematic.

The legal framework allows proposed adjustments to resolve the leadership gap through legislative amendments. Kiselova addressed the Pleven region water crisis and explained that authorities failed to direct capital spending toward water infrastructure over recent years. The government proposed budget updates for Pleven region projects to implement corrective measures.
