Bulgaria has reduced illegal border crossing attempts by more than 75 percent compared to 2024, and Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov stated that the nation effectively protects its European frontiers. Zhelyazkov spoke on Wednesday in Copenhagen at the European Political Community Meeting and emphasized efforts to counter smugglers who threaten European security and stability. The Prime Minister highlighted partnerships with Austria, Romania, Greece, and other nations, while noting the importance of return policies, readmission agreements, and the Migration and Asylum Pact. Bulgaria advocates policies that many member states support, and Zhelyazkov stated that European security requires physical border protection through technology investments and proper policies to prevent illegal migration attempts.
