Centenary Bank started fixing 20 hectares of damaged forest land at Masindi Central Forest Reserve today. The bank gave 60 million Ugandan money units to plant about 40,000 trees through 2025. They teamed up with the National Forestry Authority for this three-year project aimed at making the area green again. The forest holds many plants and animals, helps trap carbon, catches water, and keeps soil healthy.
Bank leader Fabian Kasi thanked forest officials for finding the right spot that matches their green goals. He said they planted 70,000 trees across Uganda during the past two years as part of their Earth Care work. Stuart Maniraguha from the forestry group praised the bank for fighting tree loss. He said his team has fixed 25,000 forest areas nationwide since 2020 through similar team efforts.
According to global tree watchers, Uganda lost over 37,000 hectares of natural forest just last year. Centenary Bank used two percent of its past year's money gains to help communities. The bank set aside almost six billion Ugandan money units this year for churches, health programs, schools, money learning classes, and nature protection.
