Centenary Bank fuels Lubaga Cathedral centenary uproar with Shs 100m

Centenary Bank bosses opened their wallets wide for Lubaga Cathedral's massive birthday bash coming October. Managing Director Fabian Kasi announced the bank would fork over 100 million shillings during a ceremony at their Mapeera Chaplaincy. Archbishop Ssemogerere showed up to collect the generous check while organizers detailed their ambitious renovation plans. The historic cathedral hits its 100-year milestone and needs serious cash for a complete makeover. Bank executives urged other donors to step up before time runs out.

The cathedral's transformation includes wild upgrades like digital billboards and elevator shafts inside the towers for tourists. Workers will build a three-level parking garage holding 100 vehicles while painters refresh every surface inside and outside. Organizers plan to install fancy lighting systems and upgrade sound equipment for better services. The project costs a whopping 2.4 billion shillings with construction eating up 1.4 billion of that budget. Committee members have already collected 695 million shillings including a hefty 300 million donation from President Museveni.

The bank's chaplaincy celebrated its 13th anniversary during the same event where Kasi broke down the contribution details. Various companies pitched in with cement bags and paint while media houses promised coverage for the centenary festivities. The cathedral will become a major tourist destination once workers finish installing the tower elevators and bishop statues. Religious leaders praised the bank's longtime support for spiritual activities at their workplace facility.
