Two People Found Guilty of Fraud.
A court in Buganda Road said two people broke the law. They helped get money from a bank in a bad way. It happened on Wednesday.
The two people are Specioza Nassuna and Robert Kisolo. Nassuna is 43 years old and worked at the bank. Kisolo is a businessman. They both live in the Wakiso district.
The court said they did five bad things: They made fake papers and lied to get a loan for 200 million shillings.
Nassuna and Kisolo said some land belonged to them, but it did not. The land was in Mukono District, and it belonged to Henry Ssemugooma and his family.
Nassuna put a fake report about the land in Kisolo's loan file. The bank looked at the file and then gave Kisolo the money.
The court heard from 11 people. Some worked at the bank, and some were in Ssemugooma's family. They all said Nassuna and Kisolo did bad things.
Joan Keko works for the court. She said many people do this kind of bad thing to banks, which makes people very sad. In 2023, there were 12,924 cases like this.
Keko wants Nassuna and Kisolo jailed for 10 years and to pay back the 200 million shillings.
The court will decide what to do on February 12, 2025. Nassuna and Kisolo will get to say something on that day. Then, the court will tell them their punishment.
