DCI Denies Holding Missing Blogger Ndiangui Kinyagia as Search Intensifies

Kenya's criminal investigation agency says it does not have missing blogger Ndiangui Kinyagia. Director Mohamed Amin spoke at a Monday press meeting about the case. The activist has been gone for ten days after posting about government protests. Police consider him important to their investigation of social media content. Amin confirmed officers want to question Kinyagia but do not hold him.

Investigators tracked down the blogger's home address and searched his apartment. Police found electronic equipment during the legal search operation. Officers made a list of items they took from the residence. The building caretaker signed the inventory document as a witness. Kinyagia was not at home when police arrived to search.

The missing man shared a program for June 25 demonstrations against the government. Authorities viewed his social media posts as calls for changing leadership. Police identified his online accounts and confirmed he wrote the messages. Law enforcement agencies began investigating after seeing the controversial content. Officials treated his posts as threats to public order.

A court ordered top police officials to find Kinyagia or explain his location. The High Court gave them until July 1 to respond to the demand. Family members and rights groups filed legal papers claiming forced disappearance. Online supporters created campaigns asking about his whereabouts. Human rights organizations worry about possible constitutional violations.

Amin urged the blogger to visit any police station and surrender. The director repeated that government forces do not have custody of the activist. Family members say they have not heard from him since he vanished. Rights groups continue pressing officials for answers about the case.
