Diamonds blow lead to settle for 2 2 draw

Manica Diamonds let their two-goal lead slip away as TelOne came back to draw 2-2 in an exciting soccer match at Sakubva. The game had a dramatic pause when Gem Boys players rushed onto the field to protest a penalty decision against them. Club chairman Masimba Chihowa stepped in to calm everyone down after almost ten minutes of delay. When play started again, Washington Nayaya scored his seventh goal this season from the penalty spot.

Before all that drama, Charles Teguru had put Manica Diamonds ahead just twelve minutes into the game. They scored again near halftime when TelOne accidentally knocked the ball into their net trying to clear Anelka Chivandire's pass. Coach Herbert Maruwa made three substitutions at halftime, which completely changed the game. His changes worked quickly when Nayaya headed in a cross from Gerald Bero just four minutes after the break.

TelOne kept pushing forward with more ball possession until they earned a penalty. Nayaya stepped up again to score the equalizer. Manica Diamonds coach Jairos Tapera felt sad about the missed chances in the first half. He believed his team could have scored four or five goals early in the match, but failed to finish their opportunities.
