A Dhaka court granted a four-day remand on Monday for former education minister Dipu Moni in a murder case linked to the student uprising. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman approved the order after investigating officer Mainul Islam Khan presented her and requested a 10-day remand. Md Monir Hossain was fatally shot at Chankharpul on Aug. 5 last year, and his wife, Rozina Akter, filed a murder case against 351 named individuals and 500 unidentified persons.
The same court ordered former lawmaker Solaiman Selim to be shown as arrested in the Shawon Sikder murder case from the July uprising. Shawon Sikder was shot in front of Eden Mohila College, and doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital declared him dead. A murder case was filed at Lalbagh Police Station on Jan. 21.
