Shahed Majumder lands five-day remand as Gulshan terror case deepens

A Dhaka magistrate ordered Shahed Ahmed Majumder to remain in custody for five days under terrorism charges. The son of former Industries State Minister Kamal Ahmed Majumder appeared before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ziadur Rahman after police requested a 10-day detention period. Counter Terrorism Unit officers arrested the suspect Saturday night in Gulshan's Niketan neighborhood. Officials then formally charged him under the Anti-Terrorism Act through the Gulshan police station.

The magistrate granted the police half their requested remand time for questioning the accused. Shahed's father served as an Awami League member of parliament before his arrest on October 19 last year. Kamal Ahmed Majumder has been imprisoned since authorities detained him 11 months ago. The case represents another development in ongoing investigations involving the family of the former government official.
