Egypt celebrated its 73rd Independence Anniversary yesterday while Ambassador Salwa Mowafi prepared to conclude her diplomatic mission in Zimbabwe next month. Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri attended the ceremony and emphasized the mutual benefits of bilateral cooperation programs. Both countries expressed commitment to expanding partnerships across agriculture, energy, infrastructure, health, and sports sectors. Muchinguri-Kashiri acknowledged Egypt's historical support during Zimbabwe's liberation struggle when the nation trained combatants. President Emmerson Mnangagwa received military training from Egypt during this period.

Trade volumes have doubled recently while business engagements continue emerging between the countries. Egypt has provided more than 105 training opportunities since 2023 across multiple fields. These programs covered wind power, counter-terrorism, climate change, health care, and diplomatic skills. Egyptian heart surgeons currently visit Zimbabwe as part of ongoing medical cooperation initiatives.
