England Club Zimbabwe in 498 Run Carnage

England's batsmen hammered Zimbabwe's bowlers for 498 runs during their first day at Trent Bridge. Ben Duckett scored 140 runs before getting caught at cover after facing 134 balls. Zak Crawley made 124 runs from 171 balls before losing his wicket to a leg-before decision. Ollie Pope remains unbeaten with 169 runs from 163 balls heading into Friday's play. Harry Brook stands at the crease with 10 runs after joining Pope late in the day.

Duckett and Crawley built a massive 231-run partnership for the first wicket during the opening session. The pair attacked Zimbabwe's bowling from the start and found scoring easy against weak bowling. Crawley added another 137 runs with Pope for the second wicket before getting out. Joe Root scored 34 runs before falling to a hook shot that was caught at deep fine leg. Zimbabwe bowlers struggled to control their line and length throughout the entire day.

Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine won the coin toss and chose to field first under cloudy conditions. The visiting team hoped their pace bowlers could use the helpful weather conditions. Richard Ngarava left the field with back and hamstring injuries during the afternoon session. England's batsmen scored at nearly six runs per over against modest bowling. Pope aims to beat his highest test score of 205 runs on Friday.
