Fakana freed from Dubai jail, dies in London chase

Marcus Fakana died on Friday after a car crash in north London, three months after Dubai authorities released him from prison. The 19-year-old British teenager suffered fatal injuries when the vehicle he was riding in collided with a truck in Tottenham. Metropolitan Police officers had pursued the car for 60 seconds before losing sight of it.

Fakana had received a royal pardon in July from Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum after serving time for a relationship with a 17-year-old girl. The girl's mother reported him to authorities after discovering messages between the pair. His lawyer stated that Fakana had focused on rebuilding his life through faith and was grateful for the public's support.

Marwaan Mohamed Huseen faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving without a license, and failing to stop. The 19-year-old Tottenham resident will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has been notified of the incident.
