Fastjet has added a new flight route connecting Zimbabwe and Zambia through their capital cities, Harare and Lusaka. The award-winning airline will start these flights on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. They plan to fly three times weekly - every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Planes will leave Harare at 6 AM and land in Lusaka by 6:55 AM on those days.
Passengers traveling from Lusaka can board at 7:25 AM and arrive in Harare by 8:20 AM. The company announced Tuesday that it will use a 50-seater Embraer ERJ145 aircraft for these trips. This plane type provides the right capacity for regional networks and offers comfortable seats with extra legroom. Fastjet Zimbabwe spokesperson Nunurai Ndawana expressed excitement about linking these two regional cities.
Ndawana said Zimbabwe and Zambia share strong connections across many sectors. He mentioned that the new route demonstrates their commitment to supporting economic and social growth in the Zim-Zam region. He noted that Fastjet Zimbabwe has served Zimbabwean communities for ten years and feels pleased to extend its service to Lusaka. Donahue Cortes, the Fastjet Zimbabwe Business CEO and Country Head, highlighted that no other airline offers early morning flights between these cities.
Cortes said their flight times help both business and leisure travelers enjoy a full day of activities after arriving. He mentioned they continue expanding their morning flight options, with the Lusaka early departure joining similar sunrise flights to Bulawayo and Johannesburg. This air route creates fresh opportunities for trade, investment, and tourism between both nations since Harare and Lusaka serve as key centers for these activities.
The better air connection allows business professionals to travel more efficiently, which helps strengthen trade relations and economic growth between countries. Because flights depart early morning, business travelers can make round trips in just one day. Fastjet created its schedule to fit what companies need, making travel smoother for executives and entrepreneurs who require flexible travel options that save time.
