Female Coach Primrose Serima Dominates Tournament

Mighty Warriors Coach Serima Wins Top Honor at Youth Tournament.

Zimbabwe women's national team assistant coach Primrose Serima earned "Coach of the Tournament" honors at the Jadel Football Academy tournament last Saturday in Belgravia Sports Club.

The former midfielder led Jadel Zimbabwe to the finals as the only female head coach among eight teams. Her squad fell 1-0 to Jadel China in the championship match of the 8-aside competition.

"This award means a lot for my coaching journey," Serima said. "The tournament was very competitive. Being picked as the best gives me great confidence."

Her success comes ahead of joining the Mighty Warriors camp this Sunday. Zimbabwe faces Angola in two matches for the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers. The winner advances to play either Congo or Malawi for a spot in next year's tournament in Morocco.

"I will bring high spirits to the national team camp," said Serima, who serves under head coach Sithethelwe "Kwinji 15" Sibanda.

Jadel Football Academy director Walter Musanhu praised Serima's coaching ability. "She can become a household name in the future," he said.

The youth tournament featured teams from Auckland, Springs, Mobile Academy, Scottland, City Academy, Real Saints, plus Jadel Zimbabwe and China squads. The event ran parallel to the Zimbabwe Football Association elections.

"We see great potential in our country's youth," Musanhu said. "We aim to expand this into a national tournament to develop talent systematically."

Several sponsors supported the event, including Prevail Group, Ezulwini Villa Lodge, Hempack Chemicals, and Betterbrands. Zimbabwe national team star Khama Billiat became the academy's brand ambassador.

The tournament highlights Zimbabwe's focus on youth development as the women's national team prepares for important qualifying matches ahead.
