A collision between a passenger bus and a stationary dump truck on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway claimed at least five lives and left 19 people injured in the Battali area of Sitakunda upazila. The Chattogram-bound vehicle from Dhaka struck the parked truck after losing control.
Emergency responders from Sitakunda Fire Station recovered four bodies at the scene and transported 20 wounded passengers to Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex, according to station officer Belal Hossain. Another victim died after arrival at the medical facility, while a dozen injured individuals required transfer to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for advanced care, emergency department physician Mohammad Imran confirmed.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those who perished in the crash.
