Flood toll rises to over 10,000 as Kelantan suffers most

Malaysian authorities report that flooding has displaced nearly 11,000 residents in seven states, with Kelantan experiencing the most severe impact. The northeastern region accounts for more than 8,000 evacuees sheltering in 33 temporary facilities across four districts, while heavy rainfall continues to hammer affected areas.

Perlis witnessed a dramatic escalation, with evacuation numbers jumping from roughly 100 to over 800 residents overnight. Penang opened two additional relief sites to accommodate 242 displaced individuals. Selangor became the latest state requiring emergency response operations.

The crisis shows mixed regional trends, as Kedah and Terengganu reported decreasing victim counts, while Perak logged rising displacement figures.
