Free State ANC crawls back to sidelined Ntombela

ANC members urged former Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela to return to active party leadership through an open letter, praising her grassroots organizing abilities. Topito Mokhele signed the appeal that referenced successful gatherings in Mantsopa and Waaihoek, where Ntombela attracted large crowds without government support. The communication criticized internal faction purges that remove effective campaigners from party activities.

Ntombela led the Free State from 2018 to 2023, focusing on women's advancement and education programs. The letter highlighted her Mayanga Yanga community initiative and noted that her academic credentials were the result of personal effort rather than external assistance. Supporters believe her involvement would energize women and youth voters ahead of elections.

The message warned against marginalizing experienced leaders as the party faces opposition challenges in the Free State. Ntombela maintains public engagement through independent events that draw participants. The correspondence reflects broader concerns about ANC unity following a decline in membership below 50 percent in national elections.
