Frustration Mounts as KCSE 2024 Portal Goes Down

Many students and parents in Kenya are upset. They cannot see their exam scores. The scores were put online today. But the website is not working.

The exams are very important. They are called the KCSE. Students take them at the end of high school.

The government released the scores this morning. The man in charge of education made the announcement. His name is Julius Ogamba.

Mr. Ogamba said students could get their scores online. They just needed to go to a special website. But when students tried, they got an error. The website would not load.

Many schools also had this problem. They could not pull up their students' scores, and parents across the country were frustrated.

"The system is broken," said one parent, Geophrey Momanyi. "We cannot rely on anything in Kenya."

Another parent, Cathy Mutuku, asked if anyone else got their scores. She said the website just will not work.

A student named Brian Omondi asked the government to fix the problem soon. He said students need another way to get their scores.

Mr. Ogamba told students to call a special phone number for help. But many people said the number was busy all day and could not be reached.

The group that runs the exams is called KNEC. They said everything was working fine and that students were getting their scores.

KNEC said the website is very busy, getting 300,000 hits every second, which is why it seems slow.

"Just be patient," KNEC said. "Everyone will get their scores."

But people are still angry. This is not the first time this has happened. There was a big problem last year, too, when many younger students could not get their primary school exam scores.

KNEC apologized last year for the issues. But they have not said anything yet about today's problems.

People are losing trust. They say the system keeps failing students. They want the government to find a better way to share exam scores. One that will not crash under pressure.

It is a stressful day for students all over Kenya. After years of hard work, they just want to know how they did. But for now, many are left waiting and worrying.
