Gasperini Drops Bombshell Exit After Atalanta Glory

Gian Piero Gasperini will step down as Atalanta manager after spending nine seasons with the Italian club. The 67-year-old coach guided the team to their first Europa League championship during 2024. Gasperini revealed during February that he would not extend his current deal beyond June. The veteran manager said he made his final decision during recent days about ending his time at Bergamo. He expressed pride about the extraordinary achievements his team accomplished during his tenure.

Roma officials have contacted Gasperini about their vacant coaching position after Claudio Ranieri retired from management. Atalanta transformed from a struggling team into regular European competitors under his leadership guidance. The club earned their first Champions League appearances during his coaching reign at the stadium. Gasperini helped save Atalanta from relegation battles and built them into consistent contenders for continental tournaments. His departure marks the end of the most successful period in club history for the northern Italian side.
