Golf Pros Eye Lugazi Hills for Epic July Clash

Golfers prepare for the final Pearl of Africa tournament at Lugazi Hills Golf Club this July. The 2025 series started strong with events at UGC and Entebbe that drew large crowds. John Musiimenta won the amateur division at UGC and Marvin Kibirige took the professional title. Michael Tumusiime proved that 50 years old means nothing when he captured the amateur crown at Entebbe. Herman Mutebi earned the professional win at the same event.

This tournament gives players perfect practice for the major Johnnie Walker Uganda Golf Open coming later. The big championship happens at the same course during August and September. Players need strong fitness and smart course management to succeed at this challenging location. Dr. Jackson Were from the Uganda Golf Union sees this event as great preparation for both golfers and organizers. He wants all amateur and professional players to sign up and test their skills.

Lugazi Hills Golf Club will host the Johnnie Walker Open for the first time ever. The course opened back in 1996 and used to be called Mehta before several changes over the years. Workers continue building improvements to get ready for the major tournament. The club has trained many top golfers who later joined Uganda's national teams. Champions like Godfrey Nsubuga and Joseph Reagan Akena learned their skills at this course.
