Gunfire at Paloma Street party kills two, injures six more

A deadly shooting struck an unofficial after-party for the Hard Summer music festival early Monday morning. Two fatalities occurred along with six injuries when gunfire erupted near East 14th Place and Paloma Street around 1 AM. The industrial location sits north of the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles. Social media promoted the gathering as an extension of the weekend music event.

Police had previously dispersed a large party at the same location Sunday evening at 11 PM. Officers arrested an individual suspected of carrying a weapon before the later violence occurred. Authorities remain uncertain whether the two incidents connect directly. Emergency responders discovered multiple gunshot victims and crowds blocking streets upon their return.

A male victim died at the scene while a female victim succumbed to injuries at a medical facility. Six additional people received hospital treatment with at least one person listed in critical condition. Police have not identified any suspects and continue their investigation. Mayor Karen Bass condemned the violence and demanded accountability for those responsible.
