Nyanga taxi shooting kills two, injures eight

A shooting at the Nyanga Terminus Taxi Rank has left two women dead and eight other individuals injured. The attack targeted a minibus taxi carrying members of the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association, who were traveling to a meeting.

Western Cape Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku condemned the violence, which occurred shortly after his own visit to the rank for a safety campaign. He urged law enforcement to find the perpetrators quickly. In a separate incident in Lentegeur, three young people were found shot dead in a car, with police suspecting gang activity.

These events contributed to a wave of violence across the Cape Flats, where over thirty murders were reported within a seventy-two-hour period. Authorities confirmed the discovery of numerous rifle shells at the taxi rank scene and have opened murder and attempted murder investigations.
