Armed attackers struck a police patrol car Tuesday night near Zaria. The assault killed one officer and wounded three others around 10:30 PM. Police officers had been following a Golf vehicle when gunfire erupted on Galadimawa road. The attack happened in Dalan Waje area of Zaria Local Government. Residents heard shots and fled from the scene in fear.
People living nearby dropped to the ground to avoid bullets during the shooting. Many residents ran away from the area when violence broke out. The community knows this location for bandit problems but had not seen such attacks recently. Local people expressed shock about the deadly incident. Officer Nasiru Musa from Kofar Kibo died during the attack. Driver Auwalu Hassan from Jos suffered injuries in the shooting. Security volunteer Awwal Hassan also received wounds from gunfire. Officers Iliyasu Ya'u and Salisu Mohammed needed medical care after the incident. Emergency teams rushed all wounded people to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital at Shika.
