Harare suburbs hit by bedbug nightmare

Harare residents are battling a stubborn bed bug problem spreading across multiple neighborhoods. The pesky insects started showing up in Mbare flats and quickly moved to other areas like Mabvuku, Kuwadzana, and Budiriro. City workers have begun fumigating affected buildings to stop the bugs from multiplying.

Families are struggling to control the invasion. Parents report children scratching through the night as the bugs resist standard treatments like washing bedding and using insecticides. Many people believe the bugs arrived through visitors from Mbare who stayed overnight at their homes.

Harare's mayor suggests the problem might stem from second-hand clothing markets. He claims bed bugs spread faster in apartment buildings compared to standalone houses. The city plans multiple fumigation rounds to tackle the outbreak systematically.

Residents feel frustrated and helpless against the tiny invaders. Some have tried everything from cleaning to chemical treatments without success. The bugs seem to be winning the battle against traditional elimination methods.

City officials remain cautiously optimistic about controlling the situation. They will continue fumigation efforts and monitor the spread carefully. Residents are advised to be vigilant and report any new infestations quickly.
