Hasina's shoot order is just a trailer, says ICT prosecutor Tajul

Chief war crimes prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam says the leaked phone call with fallen leader Sheikh Hasina is just the start. He posted on Facebook that much more evidence will come out against the former prime minister. The prosecutor revealed that his special investigation team got the recording before BBC published their report. He warned people to stay tuned for bigger revelations ahead. The audio recording will be key evidence when Hasina faces trial for crimes against humanity.

BBC verified the phone conversation where Hasina appears to order security forces to shoot protesters during July riots. Another prosecutor claims Hasina told her forces to use deadly weapons and helicopter attacks against students. He says she also ordered party members to wreck government buildings and blame the protesters. The recording has been checked by authorities and confirmed as real evidence. Prosecutors have already given the audio to the war crimes court.

The tribunal will decide Thursday whether to formally charge Hasina and two other officials. Former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and ex-police chief Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun also face charges. Police have arrested Al-Mamun but Hasina and Kamal remain fugitives hiding abroad. The case includes five separate charges of crimes against humanity. Prosecutors call it a superior command responsibility case against the former government.
