Homeless Warriors to play Rwanda World Cup qualifier in South Africa

The Zimbabwe Football Association has revealed arrangements for the Warriors' World Cup qualifier against Rwanda. The match will take place at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, beginning at 3 PM Central Africa Time. Officials selected this neutral venue because Zimbabwe lacks adequate facilities for international competition. The National Sports Stadium remains under construction and will not meet completion deadlines for the fixture. The Warriors previously used Orlando Stadium for other qualifying matches during this campaign.

Zimbabwe faces elimination from World Cup contention with minimal advancement opportunities remaining. The team occupies last place in Group C with four points from previous encounters. South Africa leads the group standings with a nine-point advantage over Zimbabwe. Four qualifying matches remain on the schedule for all participating nations. The Warriors must secure maximum points from remaining fixtures while hoping other results favor their qualification chances.
