Ibori mourns Segun Awolowo’s death as a national loss

Former Delta State Governor James Ibori has mourned the death of Segun Awolowo, grandson of the revered political leader Obafemi Awolowo, calling the loss deeply personal and a setback for the country. The 62-year-old had served as head of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, where his leadership expanded support for producers outside the petroleum sector and opened international markets.

Ibori praised the deceased official for carrying his family legacy with humility while maintaining firm principles throughout his career. The ex-governor noted that Awolowo's quiet dignity and commitment to public service earned widespread respect across party lines.

He offered sympathies to relatives and associates, expressing hope that the late administrator's dedication to national development would continue inspiring future generations.
