Intel Secret Chip Tests Leak NVIDIA Joins Surprise Move

Intel leaders shared during their first quarter financial report that outside customers have started testing chip designs made with Intel manufacturing. The company is working to finish its advanced 18A production process. Early test chips received high marks for performance. Taiwan news source Ctee reports that Intel has given test samples to major tech firms NVIDIA, Broadcom, and Faraday Technology.

Faraday Technology reportedly completed its 18A design work last October. The company says it successfully connected with the test chips it received. Sources believe NVIDIA and Broadcom currently run manufacturing tests on these chips. Other reports indicate IBM and several unnamed partners also received 18A prototype chips. People familiar with these tests call the results good or impressive.

Some news differs from earlier reports about Intel's next-generation Nova Lake computer chips. Ctee sources claim Intel will make parts of these chips in its factories rather than sending all production elsewhere. Industry watchers note Intel seems more sure about its manufacturing abilities lately. The company appears ready to compete with other chip manufacturers after years of delays and problems with its advanced production lines.
