The club honored him with a video tribute on the Chase Stadium scoreboard following a 4-1 victory over the New England Revolution. The tribute featured former Barcelona teammates Pep Guardiola, Xavi Hernandez, and Lionel Messi.
Busquets joined Miami from Barcelona in July 2023 and has won the Leagues Cup 2023 and the 2024 Supporters Shield with the team. He has appeared in 107 matches across all competitions for the Herons, recording one goal and 19 assists. The defensive midfielder plans to take a break from football before pursuing coaching.
The 36-year-old made 722 appearances for Barcelona, ranking third in club history. He won 32 trophies with Barcelona and helped Spain capture the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 UEFA Euro championship. Busquets made 143 international appearances for Spain over his career.
