Ishtiaque Sadeque was elected as a director from Category 2, representing Dhaka clubs, in the Bangladesh Cricket Board election with 42 votes, the highest in that group. Shanian Taneem Naveen and Faruque Ahmed also secured 42 votes each, sharing the top spot in this competitive section. Out of 156 eligible votes, 115 were cast, resulting in a voter turnout of 73.71%, which reflected strong engagement from all categories.
The election results were announced on Monday, after voting took place at a hotel in Dhaka from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dr Sheikh Jubayed Hasan, the returning officer, said that 23 directors were elected according to the BCB constitution, with 10 from district and division representatives, 12 from Dhaka clubs, and one from the former players' category. Khaled Mashud Pilot was elected from the former cricketers and government/autonomous bodies quota. The new 23-member board will soon meet to elect the next president for a four-year term.
