Jetu's Pangolin powers Malawi's historic NBM women's league

National Bank of Malawi and the Football Association of Malawi announced legendary musician Jetu's remastered hit "Pangolin" as the theme song for the new women's football premiership. The 73-year-old artist brings star power to Malawi's inaugural women's league launch. FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women will face Kukoma Mtopwa Women at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe during Saturday's opening match. NBM Marketing Manager Akossa Hiwa emphasized the pangolin's symbolism as an animal that commands fear, respect, and protection. These qualities mirror the women participating in the premiership and young girls who admire them.

The bank chose to blend music with football for enhanced fan engagement during this historic sports milestone. FAM Competitions Director Gomezgani Zakazaka expressed enthusiasm about the groundbreaking tournament that establishes new standards for women's athletics nationwide. The NBM Women's Football Premiership will feature top teams competing from July 2025 through February 2026. This platform represents a transformative opportunity for female footballers across the country. The league promises high competition levels and entertainment value for spectators.
