Jirongo’s burial set in Lumakanda amid tight security

The political world is gathering to bury Cyrus Jirongo with serious security in place. Final preparations are set for the former Lugari MP's funeral at his Lumakanda home in Kakamega County. His body arrived for a vigil in Kitale. Security teams are deployed heavily at the burial site in Lumakanda village, where he will be laid to rest next to his parents and brother.

Lugari's current MP, Nabii Nabwera, is overseeing everything with security officials. The body will move from Kitale to Lumakanda. A major funeral service is planned at Lumakanda Primary School, with President William Ruto expected to attend. After the service, the final burial will happen at the home. Organizers expect over forty thousand people and have arranged to slaughter several bulls to feed mourners. Viewing of the body will be held at both the home and the school.

Jirongo died in a road crash near Naivasha. His death sparked speculation and calls for a deeper investigation from his family and other leaders. Officials like Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa have visited, urging the community to give him a proper sendoff. Leaders from both the government and the opposition have come to console the family since the incident.
