Suna East MP Junet Mohammed is telling Kenya Kwanza coalition leaders they need to start actual negotiations about cabinet positions well before the next election, stating they cannot just assume ODM's backing. Speaking at an event in Lugari, he pointed out his party's widespread influence from the Coast to Western regions, plus Turkana, North Eastern, and Nairobi. He argued this electoral clout was crucial in creating the broad arrangements that handed several leaders top jobs in the current administration.
Junet noted that while ODM never formally supported the ruling coalition, it still received six appointed slots. He said that gesture, while appreciated, is not enough to lock down their votes for 2027. He demanded clear talks about exactly how many positions ODM would get in any future deal, insisting people need to sit down and hash it out. He also pushed back against claims his party is adrift, calling ODM a stable national institution.
