Justice Tells Off Lawyer for Missing Court

Judge Ebrima Jaiteh scolded state lawyer Lamin Jarju for missing court Monday during a drug case against Paulo Djabi from Guinea Bissau. Djabi faced charges of faking medical papers from Kanifing General Hospital. The judge grew frustrated because two key witnesses came ready to testify.

Both the High Court Registrar and Kanifing Hospital CEO showed up but sat idle because the prosecutor never arrived. Judge Jaiteh stated clearly that Jarju's repeated absences created major delays in delivering justice for everyone involved.

A different state attorney, M Sarr, stepped in for Jarju and asked to postpone the hearing. Sarr explained he had just received the case file early Monday morning, March 17, 2025. The judge fired back that legal ethics demand all attorneys come prepared regardless of sudden changes.

Judge Jaiteh stressed every lawyer must show up ready to move their cases forward to protect the legal system's integrity. He called proper case management vital for timely justice. The judge declared Jarju's absence completely unacceptable since it stalled the case yet again. He warned these ongoing delays damage public trust in courts throughout the country.
