Police caught 13 people after criminals killed a navy officer near Kawo flyover Sunday morning. Lt. Commodore M. Buba died when a phone thief stabbed him around 5:20 am. The officer studied at Armed Forces Command and Staff College before his death. DSP Mansir Hassan said officers found weapons during raids after the attack. Security expert Zagazola Makama reported details about the deadly crime.
The naval officer stopped to fix a flat tire on his car when trouble started. A criminal walked up and demanded the officer hand over his mobile phone. Buba refused to give up his device and asked why the man wanted it. The attacker used a local knife to stab the officer through his chest. People nearby caught the criminal and beat him to death before police arrived.
Hospital workers at Manaal Medical Center could not save the wounded officer. Doctors declared Buba dead when ambulances brought him for emergency treatment. Medical staff moved his body to 44 Army Reference Hospital for final procedures. The navy officer left behind family members and fellow students at military school. Police continue searching for other gang members connected to phone theft crimes.
