Kano governor tells contractors to up their game

Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf says he will not accept poor-quality work from contractors handling state projects. He made these comments Wednesday after returning from Morocco, where he received an African Governor award.

The governor skipped going to Government House first. Instead, he stopped at several project sites across the city unannounced. Right after leaving the terminal, he checked the road being built near the airport. He told workers the road must have greenery on both sides and meet international standards.

He told contractors at the airport roundabout that he trusts their company but expects excellence regardless of personal connections. At the Lodge Road roundabout, he ordered landscaping around the street lights. He asked for trees to be planted six meters apart with grass between them. He suggested adding a water fountain to make the area more beautiful.

The governor also examined a mosque under construction during his tour. He gave specific instructions about improving its structure and the surrounding area. His approach showed his hands-on management style focused on quality and accountability.
