Kenya Power has released a list of areas across five counties that will have their electricity shut off on Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The company says they need to turn off the power in these places to do some maintenance work on the system. The affected counties are Tharaka Nithi, Vihiga, Kakamega, Nandi, and Nairobi.
In Nairobi, the power will be out from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in several spots, like along Argwings Kodhek Road, Chaka Road, and Marcus Garvey. It'll also be off on Timau, at the Tigoni Chaka Mall, and in parts of George Padmore. The French School will not have electricity either, and neither will Circle Mall or Kilimani Mall.
In Nandi, the electricity will be shut off from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in places like Sarwat, Ainapngetuny, Tachasis, and Old Miteitei. Meanwhile, in Kakamega, the power outage will last from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and affect areas such as Kaburengu Market, Chimoi, and Lwandeti Market. Chekalini will also be without electricity, along with Bishop Njenga, Butali Weigh Bridge, and other nearby customers.
Vihiga will experience power interruptions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in several places, including Ebwali, Waluka, and Mwitokho. The electricity will also be cut in Emusenjeli, Mahanga, and Havavo, not to mention Wambundo, Musunguti, and Ligale. Madzuu Girls, Kisienya, Ihyagalo, and Itabalia will all be affected, as will adjacent customers.
As for Tharaka Nithi, parts of the county will be without power from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. The specific areas impacted are Kariakomo Mission Hospital, Kirumi Coffee Factory, and Igwanjau Secondary. Kiarungu and Kabui Secondary will also experience outages, along with Keria Market, Mwafrika Plant, and Imara Dairy. Last but not least, Ruruma Primary and Riakanugu will also be without electricity during that time frame.
