Lexar NM990 SSD Leaves Rivals Eating Dust

Lexar launched the NM990 series for people who need fast computer storage. The drives work with PCIe 5.0 connections and come in three sizes. Gamers and content creators can buy 1TB, 2TB, or 4TB models. Each drive measures 22mm wide and 80mm long. The company built these drives for heavy computer tasks.

The drives read data at speeds up to 14,000 MB per second. Write speeds change based on storage size from 7,500 MB/s to 11,000 MB/s. Random operations reach 2 million read IOPS and 1.5 million write IOPS. The 8-channel controller helps manage all this speed. Users can transfer large files quickly with these drives.

Heat management keeps the drives running smoothly during long work sessions. Lexar added graphite stickers and Thermal Defender Technology to prevent overheating. The drives operate between 0 and 70 degrees Celsius safely. Each drive weighs about 6 grams and stays thin at 2.45mm. The company designed them to fit standard M.2 slots.

Lexar expects each drive to last 1.5 million hours before failing. The 1TB model handles 750TB of total writes during its lifetime. Larger models can handle 1,500TB and 3,000TB respectively. The company backs all drives with five-year warranties for peace of mind.
