Machakos gas boss loses pistol, cash in brazen bike robbery

A businessman got jacked for his gun and cash. In Kyumbi, Machakos County, a licensed firearm holder reported being robbed of his pistol and 570,000 shillings after visiting his gas plant. He told police his car got stuck in a ditch, and when he stepped out, a lone gunman on a motorbike held him up, forcing him to hand over the weapon from his waist holster and an envelope full of money. During the struggle, the pistol's magazine fell off, which he later recovered and gave to officers at the Kyumbi station, who are investigating.

In a totally different case in Nyamira's Ekerenyo area, a driver and three passengers were robbed by fake passengers. The driver picked up two people in Rongo, then six more men in Kisii Town who said they were going to Nyamira. Along the Konate area, those six allegedly hijacked the vehicle, stealing cash, phones, shoes, and food. One stolen phone had an M-Shwari account holding 200,000 shillings. The gang only bailed after the vehicle got a puncture and stalled on the Magonga Ekerenyo road, leaving it behind.

Over in Narok County, a disarmament operation in the Angata Barrikoi area netted sixteen guns and thirty-one bullets, including nine AK-47 rifles and a G3. This surrender happened under a thirty-day dusk-to-dawn curfew meant to stop a wave of pre-Christmas attacks tied to cattle raids and land fights that killed over ten people and displaced hundreds. Top cops visited to enforce the curfew and oversee the weapon hand-in, with more officers deployed to keep order. Authorities also confirmed arresting a serving police officer linked to the violence, with investigations ongoing.
