Man Caught for Killing Brother Over Land Dispute in Kisoro

Police arrested a 35-year-old man who killed his older brother because of a fight about land. The murder happened Thursday somewhere in Gakoro Cell, located in Kisoro District. Evarist Nzabarinda walked into Bunagana Police Station around noon and admitted he killed his 53-year-old brother, Zaire Maniriho. Police charged him right away after he came forward.

The brothers lived alone together for many years in Gasasa Ward within the Bunagana Town Council. They often argued about who should control family land. Police officers checked the crime scene carefully and wrote down what witnesses said about the killing. Medical experts also examined the dead body to learn exactly how Maniriho died.

Elly Maate speaks for the Kigezi area police and told reporters about the case. He said police officers from the Bunagana station visited where the murder happened. They took pictures and collected evidence from the location. The team documented everything they found at the scene very carefully.

Maate asked everyone living nearby to talk through problems instead of using violence. He said people should ask local leaders or government officials for help with serious disagreements. Police will finish gathering all evidence about the murder before the court date. Then, Nzabarinda must face a judge and answer for the crime he committed against his brother.
